Eyewitnesses describe the panic and chaos as a deadly fire broke out at a Swiss ski resort bar during New Year’s celebrations. Officials called it an “unprecedented tragedy,” saying around 40 people were killed and about 115 others severely injured in the blaze.

After the FBI announced it foiled a New Year's Eve terror plot in North Carolina, NBC News' Gary Grumbach reported on the latest in the investigation including details about how long the suspect was monitored for and what he planned.
